Peter is a freelance composer, arranger and musician playing both piano and guitar. His early professional career saw him playing lead guitar with Johnny Logan. He subsequently played with Sandie Jones, Dickie Rock and Red Hurley.
He ventured into the world of musical theatre and spent many years as Musical Director for both John Player Tops shows and corporate variety shows where he honed his craft as an arranger and composer. For sixteen years he conducted Arthur’s Team (Guinness MS) through all the modern classics and enjoyed many successes both in AIMS and at the Waterford Light Opera Festival.
His studio credits include co-production of two albums and a single for Eleanor McEvoy.
His involvement with the Billie Barry Stage School as MD extends over 30 years, covering Summer Schools, Musicala Concerts and the variety shows held in the Gaiety Theatre.
Last year’s production of Cinderella extended Peter’s association with the Gaiety Theatre into his 28th year as Musical Director for the annual pantomime.
As a composer, his original songs appeared in many shows and were regularly in the finals of song contests around the country. His song Once Again appeared in Eurosong ’96 which he also arranged for the RTE Concert Orchestra.
Following a successful run of his musical ‘SCAM - The Musical’ in 2018, Peter decided to compose and arrange a brand new score for The Great Gatsby. ‘Gatsby: The Musical’ received its eagerly anticipated debut in the Civic Theatre on March 8th 2024.
